US Open Reviews & Opinions

So the US Open is concluding and I am disappointed with the results and the semi-finalist/finalist. Especially because my favorite player didn't make it into the finals, but he did amazing in my opinion. Roger Federer made it to the Quarter-finals which isn't bad, and he might maintain his World Number 1 ranking after this tournament if Novak Djokovic doesn't win US Open, which will be hard, since he won last year and is the favorite to win this year. The one thing that stands out about the US Open is the audience. The crowd is very loud and cheerful. It's a really nice atmosphere for the tennis players and everyone else. Obviously the courts and ball boys/girls are top notch and ready all the time for what ever is gonna happen, on and off the court.

I believe in order of the most important slams, the US Open is ranked 3rd out of 4. First is Wimbledon,  then Roland Garros, US Open and then Australian Open. Although I believe out of the four, the US Open is the biggest stadium. Even though many tennis players consider Wimbledon to be a tennis players dream place to win at, US Open isn't too far away from that. Obviously, it's a slam. Just winning one will put your name in the record books.

This is my first year actually taken interest in the slams, since I wasn't interested in tennis at all until I joined tennis in 3rd trimester and have a feel for the ball. Although it doesn't seem like this US Open is will stand out from the rest. Rafael Nadal didn't enter the tournament due to knee injury and Roger got taken down by Berdych. Djokovic, the defending champion is still going strong, but anything can happen over the course of the few remaining days. The 2012 US Open will have a major chance to stand out from the rest, if a player who hasn't won a single slam would be to win this slam. Since Del Potro and the top 3 seeds have been completely dominating the game for a really long time.

All in all, I enjoy watching a slam on TV. It really does have a completely different feel from smaller tournaments. People do mostly judge a tennis player by how well they do in slams and how many they won. That's the reason why a lot of people believe Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time, since he won 17 slams, more than anyone in the history of the sport. US Open is a very exciting 2 week tournament and definitely has a New York feel to it, obviously because it's held in New York.
